It’s true I have turquoise mirror obsession and after the success of my last mirror makeover I wanted to more closely match this inspiration mirror I found (pictured below) while browsing pinterest a while back and have been obsessing about ever since. It was so easy I now have to stop myself from buying every mirror I see and spray painting it.

Inspiration Mirror source Knight Moves: Stella Dallas via pinterest
I began my search on eBay for Syroco style mirrors I settled on this mirror for it’s similar shape and details and I thought it would be a good makeover candidate as some of the gold finish was chipping.

I first removed the mirror and backing then primed the entire thing using an all purpose spray primer I had on hand. Once dry, the entire mirror received 2 coats of Valspar’s Exotic Sea Gloss and was set out to dry over night.

The next day I glazed the entire piece with Valspar’s Metal and Patina Glaze. I worked in smallish sections; glazing and wiping with paper towelsonly allowing the glaze a couple minutes to set.

And viola easy peasy lemon squeezy turquoise mirror makeover.

Hi! I found your garden link at Centsational Girl but ended up here! The fence row is wonderful by the way…I love this mirror. Gutsy color. I have a question about the framed silhouette of your dog that is in the corner of the one picture. Would you be willing to share where you had that done? I’m your very first follower!
Maria July 26, 2011 9:58AM
Hi, Thanks for stopping by! The photo with the dog was my inspiration photo. It’s think it’s really cute too. There’s a bunch of folks on etsy that do those style dog silhouettes I would check there.
Here’s the link again for the original source of that photo. Knight Moves: Stella Dallas.

Your mirror is amazing!! This is so cool because I have a similar mirror and was going to paint it turquoise! But then at the last minute I went with white. I love the way it looks, but I think this winter I might do a change-up and do it in turquoise!
Maria January 2, 2012 8:12AM
Thanks Sabrina, I think white could be awesome too. I also painted a mirror in raspberry too which I also love.
