For Sale: A Lake House

When I was a little one, when we would go out on a Sunday drive with my parents we would often go look at open houses and look at newly constructed homes as a way to pass the time. One of the best things about the internet is that we no longer have to wait for Sunday open houses or a weekend drive to virtually take a look inside homes that are for sale.

A listing that my sister showed me recently (it must run in the family) caught my eye. Last spring when I was writing our Lake Tours series I declared this home to be my very favorite on the lake.

Sleepless Hallow was purchased in 1924 during Lake Hopatcong’s golden era by Joe Cook who was at the time one of the lake’s most famous residents. Joe was a famed vaudeville and radio star and a household name in the  1920’s and the 1930’s.

Sleepless Hallow an Arts and Crafts style home recently came on the market for $3,500,000. With it’s breathtaking main lake views this stately stone and shingle home would make a luxury getaway for anyone looking to leaves their worries behind. Take a look!

The home boasts 7,500 square feet of living space, 5 fireplaces, coffered ceilings and quarter sawn oak paneling.

…to the grand rotunda.

A third floor in-law suite with a bedroom, bath and sitting area would certainly keep your guests cozy and comfortable.

Breathtaking views of the lake overlooking the lush property speak to old fashioned luxury on a breezy summer’s afternoon.

After your done awing at the views from one of the home’s many balconies you can sit by the water’s edge next to your very own boat house and take a dip in the refreshing waters.

For $3,500,000 million you can dip your toes into the lifestyle this grand home would inspire.

What would would be the first thing you’d do if you owned this home?

All images except the first one Trulia. Check out more of the listing here.

The first thing I would do if I lived here is to hire a maid, cook, gardener, …. etc!
Then I would spend every beautiful day by the water!

    Ahhhhhh to dream!
