The Best Eye Shadows: Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette

It’s a common scenario, I buy a new eye shadow excited to try it out. Take it home, unwrap the package, start to put it on, only to realize it’s not really what I was looking for or have no idea how best to apply it.

Naked-2-Palette Make up lovers around the world have sung the praises of Urban Decay Naked2 palette for quite some time now. I had spied it forever ago on a fashion blog forever ago and have been dying to try it out.

My sister bought it for my birthday a few months ago and I have been loving it so so much that I had to share. At around $50 for the set it’s not really what I would call cheap but it’s so worth it. I’ve never had a collection of eye shadows before that I have loved so much.

It’s really great for anyone that really likes neutral makeup like myself.   The shades ranging from pale to deep, matte to sparkly. This collection lets you achieve lots of neutral looks, smoky dramatic eyes, and everything in between. It’s so versatile this palette can easily go from day to night by just using some of the darker colors in the palette.

And my favorite part is there are a ton of of Magliette Calcio A Poco Prezzo fantastic tutorials out there that make applying this Naked2 palette nearly fool proof. I get compliments all the time when I wear it. My sister swears by this tutorial for a daytime smokey eye (which I used in the photos above) and I also really love this tutorial here.

Best Nail Polish Colors for Spring

During the winter I tend to ignore my nails. Even though it’s still ridiculously freezing here in the Northeast I know Spring is on it’s way. With it will come a new world of open toe shoes.  Yesterday I found myself in standing in the makeup aisle of the grocery store ( I know glamorous right) looking at an endless row of nail polish trying to figure out which one to choose for Spring. I eventually settled on slate blue but also fell in love with a few pastels and nudes that are floating everywhere this season. Here are a few of my favorite nail polish colors for Spring.

Nail-Polish-Picks-for-SprinTop: One Cuppa, Two Champagne, Three Self Righteous, Four Yummy Mummy
Middle: One Rugged, Two Fiver, Three Emerald, Four Storm Bird
Bottom: One Pink Coral, Two Seashell, Three Kerfuffle, Four Molly Coddled

P.S. I can’t wait to try out my new nail polish. Do you tend you forget about your nails in the wintertoo ? Which color do you like best?

Wedge Sneakers

I have a confession to make. I don’t own a decent pair of sneakers. The last pair I bought 5 years ago and has a tear in the side. Frankly, I just haven’t found a pair I love and and I rarely wear them anyway. In the winter I’m a boots and wedges kind of girl and in the summer I wear flip flops and sandals as much as I can.

Now I know wedge sneakers don’t really qualify as a practical pair of sneakers (ok they don’t) but I find that I keep staring at them none the less. A part of me wants a pair and part of me is reminded of those platform sneakers of the 90’s ala the Spice Girls.

This pair I found at HauteLook is really cute and for $30 (some pairs crazy expensive like these here). At that price I might not mind taking part in the trend for a season. So let’s talk about wedge sneakers today. Would you buy a pair or wouldn’t be caught dead in them?

Swimwear 2013 Favorites

Last night when I should have been writing the post for today I was staying up late, browsing the internet for bathing suits while catching up on episodes of The Following. That show is soooo good, but fair warning it’s not for the squeamish. Don’t do what I did and watch it in the dark, by yourself, until midnight. Trust me it’s not a good idea.

A decidedly less squeamish topic (depending on how you look at it ) are the swim collections for 2013. In between closing my eyes and trying not to look at the television screen I found some really great suits. Apparently high waist retro styles are in big time this season as are a lot of great one pieces and bikini’s. We live on a lake (duh) and also have a pool so swimwear is definitely one of the main staples of my summer wardrobe.

Here are some of my favorites that I’m dying to pick up.

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6

I really love number 1, 5 and 6. Any favorites?
