The Coolest Invention: 3D Doodling

0

21.2.13

The 3D doodler has to be the coolest invention I’ve seen in a long time, perhaps ever. It’s a pen that can draw in the air. How cool is that? I spied this on Kickstarter after reading an article about it. 3D doodler has smashed through it’s original funding goal of $30,000 in just a few hours and is now nearing $1m. Crazy!  Now wonder though because check this thing out.

The latest model 3Doodler

If you don’t know what kickstarter is it’s a funding platform for creative ideas. The ideas are brought to life through backers. Anyone can be a backer on Kickstarter as the minimum is just $1. Some seriously cool stuff comes out of there and this happens to be one of my favorites.

But enough talk check out what this thing can do.

Here’s a quote from the project page

“What can I make with 3Doodler?

There are many ways 3Doodler can be used. 3Doodles can be created as flat forms and peeled off a piece of paper, as freestyle 3D objects, or in separate parts, ready to be joined together using the 3Doodler. The creative opportunities are endless, including:

  • Basic 3D shapes and 3D models
  • Jewellery, pendants and hanging ornaments
  • Decorative art and fridge magnets
  • Personalization of everyday objects (iPhone cases, laptops, pens, etc.)
  • A mini Eiffel Tower or a soccer pitch for your Lego men
  • And much much more…”

They even teamed up with some really cool Etsy artists on how it can be used.

Best part is they plan to price this at $75. It’s pretty cool and I can only imagine what would be created when this thing gets into the hands of a lot of creative people.

So let’s play what would you make if you got one of these? I’m thinking a cool sculpture, or a chandelier could be something fun to try? What do you think?

Anyone else ready to shed the layers and start enjoying some time outdoors? I’m dying to get outside and soak up a little sunshine. Over the past few years of overhauling our yard we’ve been focusing on the big stuff, like building the deck around the pool, sprucing up down by the lake and building the side patio. All that work left little in the way of time or budget to furnish all those new outdoor living spaces.

But this year I’m declaring that we will get some outdoor furnishings. Bryan and I have been keeping our eyes open for some affordable (him) yet stylish (me) furnishing for the great outdoors. Care to take a peak at what we’ve found? Outdoor-Furniture

Last night when I should have been writing the post for today I was staying up late, browsing the internet for bathing suits while catching up on episodes of The Following. That show is soooo good, but fair warning it’s not for the squeamish. Don’t do what I did and watch it in the dark, by yourself, until midnight. Trust me it’s not a good idea.

A decidedly less squeamish topic (depending on how you look at it ) are the swim collections for 2013. In between closing my eyes and trying not to look at the television screen I found some really great suits. Apparently high waist retro styles are in big time this season as are a lot of great one pieces and bikini’s. We live on a lake (duh) and also have a pool so swimwear is definitely one of the main staples of my summer wardrobe.

Here are some of my favorites that I’m dying to pick up.

Happy Friday Friends! What are you all doing this weekend? The Sickies have hit our house. Nik has had a slight fever so there will probably be a lot of cartoon watching, soup eating and negotiating to get him to take his medicine. I’m not above a bribe or two. Hopefully during all that I’ll be able to sneak in a project or two.

Since coming to the realization that my wardrobe is non-existent, I’ve been keeping an eye out for great clothing ideas. So far my favorite places to find outfit inspiration are Pinterest (of course) I’ve been pinning to my Fashion board a lot.  I also like to read fashion blogs and Polyvore is another favorite.

Sometimes though the outfits are awesome but the price tags are out of control. Like $750 bags and $300 jeans…yeah, not going to happen. I found this board and tweaked it to make it my own.

This sweater is great and versatile, I love the color and I can see myself wearing it into Spring instead of a jacket.

This plain t-shirt from JCrew is a great buy on sale. When getting dressed always seem to forget the jewelry I think it really finishes and outfit so I want to start wearing it more. The necklace, bracelet and earrings could work well with a bunch of outfits.

These boots are great, wedges are my favorite because you can wear a heal while still being relatively comfortable I need to snag these while they’re on sale.

I actually have this pair of jeans and love them. They go on sale a few times a year which make them a good deal to look out for.

Finally the python bag is A-MAZE-ING I need it like now.

Well I’m off for the weekend, but before I do let’s talk fashion. Does anyone have any tips they’d like to share? What are your favorite stores? Where do you go for outfit pics, any favorite fashion blogs? Tell me in the comments I’d love to hear.

Wardrobes and Wellies

17.1.13

I was cleaning out my closet a little while ago, going through my winter clothes (and shoes) sorting the clothes that don’t fit, clothes that have gotten old and clothes I just plain old don’t like anymore. At the end of it all I came away with big old giant pile of clothes to donate.

Pleased with myself at my glorious organization skills and perfectly neat closet I took a look around…and realized I have nothing to wear! It was kind of shocking. Me? The person who loves to shop with nothing to wear? This couldn’t be possible.

But when I thought about it and thought about the last time I’d gone shopping for clothes I really couldn’t place my finger on it. What I came up with after pondering for a few more minutes was that I must have just forgot to go shopping.

In the midst of a baby being small, a new home and my full-time work at home status from my job I had managed to forget about my wardrobe. I’ve tending to skip the clothes shopping lately in favor of shopping for house related stuff. Absolutely not the worse problem to have in your life but definitely something I’m going to change.

So my latest New Years Resolution 2 1/2 weeks late is to start to replenish my wardrobe. Slowly, buying things that I love. Guess what? It’s kind of liberating knowing that it’s time to get out there to shop. Which brings me to the Wellies part of my ramblings.

I have been dying to get my hands on a pair of rainboots for a while. I mean it’s winter, it’s cold and wet. I think that’s enough of a reason to buy a pair.

Now my question is colorful or classic? Do you own a pair?
