The most expensive home in the USA just recently went on the market in Dallas, Texas for $135M. The Crespi/Hicks Estate owned by Tom Hicks and built by Pio Crespi is situated on 25 acres and boasts 28,996 square feet. Also situated on the property is a 7,000 square foot pool house and a 6,300 square foot guest house. It’s located just 8 minutes from downtown Dallas.

Crespi Hicks Mayflower Estates Home

The estates original architect Swiss born Maurice Fatio, designed some of the most prominent homes in the 20’s and 30’s for the families such as the Vanderbilt’s, Duchess of Marlborough and Edward F Hutton. It was lthe ast great estate he built before his early death in the 40’s.

Pool House Veranda

According to the Dallas Pop Culture blog the estate “was originally built by a couple retreating from the headlines of two divorces and the ugly lawsuit that followed.”

“Italian-born cotton tycoon Count maglie calcio poco prezzo Pio Crespi and his American wife, Florence “Flo” Crespi, were jet-setters before there were jets. They moved to Dallas from Waco, the town where he first established a Texas branch of his family’s Milan-based cotton empire.”

Pool House in Mayflower Estates

According to the stories Flo Crespi never changed a single thing in the interior of the home after her husband Pio’s  death in 1969. Every stick of furniture remained and decor item intact even when she remarried at the age of 74. Eventually her 3rd husband passed away when Flo was in her 90’s and as her world travels ended she moved back to the mansion she and Pio first built in the 1930’s Flo passed away in 1969 just short of her 101st birthday!

Shortly after Flo’s death Tom Hick’s purchased the property and began restoring the house and doubling it’s size. Spending nearly $100m on the restoration project the home and grounds are truly a site to behold.

What are your thoughts on the USA’s most expensive home? It’s certainly beautiful and ostentatious but what I find most fascinating is the story of Flo Crespi. Oh and I wouldn’t mind living in the guest house if anyone’s buying 😉
